Chris Jackson dumped the largest three fish limit in Heartland history on the scales to easily lap the field with 15.71 lbs of largemouth from the back of the boat. His bag was bolstered by a 7.66 lb pig that was the Amateur Division Big Bass. His big fish was the first fish to hit the livewell and by 10:30 am, Chris had culled up to his final weight.

Chris took advantage of the flooded conditions by slow rolling a 1/2 oz cole slaw War Eagle spinnerbait next to the outside row of bushes. He played the opportunities presented to him as his Pro Jim Lovan worked the shallow water. Jim earned $200 of Pro Incentive money for Chris’ high finish.

The outer brush line was in 18 to 20 feet of water and the fish were suspended in the upper five feet of water. Chris’ huge bag put $1240 in his bank account and he is sponsored by Razor Rods.

2nd PlaceCharlie McConnell, Jefferson City, MO
A big 1/2 oz white/chartreuse War Eagle spinnerbait with painted blades produced six keepers for Charlie. He fished behind Jackie Davis, who earned a $140 Pro Incentive check.

THE AMATEUR DIVISION
Jackson culls up his first title at Table Rock Lake on April 13, 2008
by Matt Eisenbacher
Chris Jackson
Charlie’s best three bass weighed 12.68 lbs, which was worth $600. He had his limit by 9 am and was done culling in the morning. The key to Charlie’s bite was to slow roll the blade parallel to the bush line and move it as slow as possible. Some of
his bites came from the outside bushes and some came from shallower bushes in the Kimberling City area.

3rd PlaceBill Hoffert, Columbia, MO
Bill was the only angler at the top of the standings to be successful with a lure other than a spinnerbait. Bill sacked up 12.54 lbs which included a 6.09 lb kicker on a black/chartreuse Bagley’s Balsa B. Bill’s Pro took him into the brush to reach the banks and Bill thought the biggest key to getting bit was to stay away from areas that had a lot of cedar trees. He wasn’t able to cull and his last fish came near the end of the day. He put a $450 check in his pocket for his 3rd Place bag of fish. Bill is sponsored by Tombstone Tackle, Merten’s Boats & Motors and Ranger Boats.
