Shawn Kowal sacked 19.15 pounds to take top honors. Shawn reported fishing jerkbaits in the dam area. Shawn is sponsored by Nitro Boats, Mercury Marine, Pro Guide Batteries, Motor Guide and Hwy 42 Boats. His catch paid $2,500 as well as $5,000 in Bass Pro Shops rewards money and $125 in US Reel incentives. Not a bad days pay for a day on the water!
Dustin Cox found a flipping bite to bag 18.03 pounds and take home second place honors. He used a homemade tube and found his fish in the 7-8 foot range. Dustin said he had a very short window where the fish bit. His last three fish came within a 6 minute stretch. His bite was from about 11:30 to 12:30 and he said the sun coming out helped. He mentioned that he really had to fish slowly. Dustin took home $1,500.00 for his success.

Another local stick took third place. Mike Malone caught a limit in his first 20 minutes of fishing. Mike was throwing jerkbaits as well. He said the fish bit good until about 9:30 and then he went almost 4 hours without another keeper. At 1:30 the switch flipped again and he went through another 9 fish to help him cull up to 17.83 pounds. Mike is sponsored by Daiwa, Hummingbird, Ranger Boats, Mercury Marine, Minn Kota, Omega Custom Tackle, Frabill, War Eagle Baits, Nameoki Marine. Mike collected $1,000.00 for 3rd place.
Big bass honors went to Marty Bohlke Jr. Marty collected $580.00 for his 6.68 pound pig. Marty is sponsored by P-Line, Hold On Hand Poured Plastics, Niccum’s Tackle Shop, Temple Fork Outfitter Rods. Nice fish Marty!
